I am scout, not only by uniform,
But also by the duties, I perform.
I recite an oath sworn to Baden-Powell,
A name and legacy I know too well.
Let us go back to the beginning,
To the general stationed at Mafeking.
To the youth where he would eventually train,
Returned a hero to all of Great Britain.
Twenty-two boys he took to Brownsea for camping,
Teaching Scoutcraft at every moment,
Marks the start of a movement,
The Scouting Movement.
The book “Scouting for Boys” he published,
What a massive feat it accomplished,
Serving as the guide and foundations,
A legacy that would last for generations.
The rest of your life has been devoted to Scouting,
Training children around the world to go exploring.
Life is more than just surviving,
Life is made to be worth living.
In the graveyards of Nyeri, you sleep peacefully,
But what you left behind will last for eternity.
So as we continue to carry on your legacy,
We will always remember you, Lord B.P., wholeheartedly.
