TIWI, ALBAY—Seventeen selected Scouts from Ticket to Life Coro-Coro Scouting Unit (TTL-CCSU) joined the volunteer-driven coastal clean-up at Baybay, Tiwi, Albay on February 5.
Thirty-one members of the Philippine National Police also joined the clean-up drive. The drive was arranged after a certain Jo Camata posted and asked for help to clean the shoreline of Baybay on Facebook.
The TTL-CCSU immediately responded to the post and sent their Scouts to clean the area with the help of the Tiwi Municipal Police Station. The clean-up drive started at three o’clock in the afternoon and lasted an hour.
In a post of AMAPS Community Scouting, they stated that the unit collected eight bags of garbage.
The unit’s second-in-command, Carl Justine San Antonio said that it is their duty to help clean the environment and protect the planet.
“As Scouts, we promised to be clean. And for us to be clean, we need to have a clean environment too. This activity proves our commitment to protect the planet,” San Antonio said.
The community-based Scouting unit is a staunch advocate of environmental protection. They support advocacies and campaigns towards a cleaner and greener environment for everyone.
Their Scouts are also signatories of the ongoing ‘Promise to the Planet‘ campaign of the Boy Scouts of the Philippines.
