“Women are leaders everywhere you look—from the CEO who runs a Fortune 500 company to the housewife who raises her children and heads her household. Our country was built by strong women, and we will continue to break down walls and defy stereotypes.”
Nancy Pelosi
Despite the extreme stereotyping and judgments toward women, they always stand out, slay throughout the way, and break the wall formed by society, especially men. As we advocate for gender equality, we know every girl, woman, and female member of the LGBTQIA+ is a multi-capable individual. Now that we’re advancing to the world where women have equal opportunities as men have, let’s continue and uphold this. Let’s make a world that has an open arm for change and empowerment.
In observance of National Women’s Month, remember that everywhere we go, we see strong, capable women. They can be your mother, your sister, your friends, even some stranger walking on the street. They can make a difference in the community that would shape its people to become the best versions of themselves. Soon, there will be more female leaders that will empower one another. To provide an example of a competent lady, know more about Mika Grace Regala, ESA, the present Secretary of the Amateur Media Association of Philippine Scouts.
Regala is a Scout from Negros Occidental Council, Western Visayas Region. She’s one of the living proofs of an all-around skilled woman. Growing up in Cadiz City, she never imagined joining the Boy Scouts of the Philippines (BSP). In 2018, she was recruited by her classmate, who was a Senior Scout, to join the Scouting Movement. Interested by the offer, she decided to join the orientation for the recruits of their Outfit, and at that moment, she felt a spark.
It took a lot of adjusting for Regala to be one with the movement since she was new to this kind of thing. People were also shocked by her choice in joining the BSP since they thought that it was only for boys- and she is a girl. Still, she continued her Scouting journey together with her sisters – Outfit 211.
With her fiery heart for Scouting, Regala achieved great feats such as being the first Female Council Scout Representative of Negros Occidental Council and being the current Secretary of the Amateur Media Association of Philippine Scouts. Not only is she active in Scouting, but she is also an academic achiever which makes her an excellent example to her fellow Scouts.
Even with the pandemic, Scouting never stops. On December 23, 2021, with her dedication, she passed her Board of Review for the Eagle Scout Rank together with her 52 batch mates. They all made sure that no one got left behind. The most awaited day came for Regala – the National Court of Honor. She delivered a Message of Gratitude to the parents, unit leaders, family, and friends.
“But this doesn’t end here. By accepting the Eagle Scout medal, we also accept the challenge that comes with serving our community from here forward.”
These are the words of Mika Grace Regala, who recently got her Eagle Scout medal during their National Court of Honor last March 10, 2022.
To her journey to the Eagle Scout rank, this event is for all the aspiring Scouts, especially the lady Scouts that would accept the call of duty and service of its nation. No matter where you are, you can make a difference. You can lead and be the change that nobody thought that you could and you can be the voice of the people that can’t stand up for themselves. Soon, she and you will be the next female game-changers in our society that will defy even more heights and break even more barriers.
Leaving these messages,
“In these challenging times, it is important to take time and reflect upon yourself. Never forget the spark that started the flames of your dedication.”
