Community-based Scouting Unit in Albay, Other Youth Organizations: Justice for Jaderay Colarina

TIWI, Albay—Barangay Coro-Coro Scouting Unit (BSP-CCSU), Sangguniang Kabataan – Coro-Coro, and Albay Youth Brigade calls for justice after one of its Senior Scouts was killed in the afternoon of July 4.

Senior Scout Jaderay Colarina, 13, a resident of Barangay Coro-Coro, Tiwi, Albay, was killed during a riot last Sunday.

Colarina was on his way home from a church service when he was spotted by several gang members and was suspected to be a member of their rival group. He was then stabbed by the suspects. The victim has been brought to the hospital but was later declared dead on arrival.

Three of the suspects were arrested by the local police force right away. John Paul Buenaventura, 18, and Kevin Caudilla, 21 are now in the custody of Tiwi MPS. While the third suspect is currently in the custody of Tiwi WCPD as he is still a minor.

In a joint statement released by BSP-CCSU and SK Coro-Coro, Scout Colarina was one of their Crew Leaders who excelled in leadership. He was described as a person who lived by the Scout Oath and Law, and one of the reasons for having a more united unit with the friendships he built with his fellow Scouts.

Earlier this afternoon, Albay Youth Brigade – a volunteer youth organization that aims to engage members in community work – supported the claims of BSP-CCSU and SK Coro-Coro saying that Scout Colarino was a true embodiment of leadership.

All of these organizations call for swift justice and appeal to the authorities to act and eradicate juvenile delinquency in every community.

In an exclusive interview with AMAPS, Scout Leader Jubille Marlourd Diaz, Institutional Scouting Chairperson and Founder of BSP-CCSU said that they are doing everything they can and exhausting all legal options to get the justice the victim deserved.

“We are closely coordinating with PNP sir for any developments in the case”, he also said.

“We join the family, friends, and co-scouts of Jade in calling for justice”, Diaz added.
