BSP’s Corvera elected as APR Scout Committee Chair

CABANATUAN City—Boy Scouts of the Philippines National President Dale B. Corvera is the Chairman-elect of the Asia-Pacific Regional Scout Committee of the World Organization of the Scout Movement (WOSM). He was elected during the 27th Asia-Pacific Regional Scout Conference on February 18, 2022. 

Corvera was applauded as the newly-elected Chairman of the Asia-Pacific Regional Scout Committee and will be serving his term from 2022-2025. Elected alongside him are:

  • Simon Hang-Bock Rhee, Korean Scout Association – First Vice-Chairman 
  • Dr. Somboon Bunyasir, National Scout Organisation of Thailand – Second Vice-Chairman

The committee oversees the implementation of resolutions from the World Scout Conference, the World Scout Committee, and the Asia-Pacific Regional Scout Conference that will affect the Scouting Movement in the region. 

The Regional Scout Committee consists of 10 members, each elected for a six-year term; it aims to encourage cooperation and worldwide solidarity among the National Scout Organizations that are members. The Committee appoints a volunteer to serve as treasurer, while the World Scout Bureau Asia-Pacific Support Centre’s Regional Director serves as secretary. All members of the Committee are from all member National Scout Organizations in the region. 

The Regional Scout Conference is the Asia-Pacific Region’s forum and governing body for World Scouting. It convenes every three years to discuss and report on the actions performed in the preceding years concerning the Asia-Pacific Regional plan’s objectives.
