BSP announces release of New 1000-Peso Bill

BAGUIO CITY—The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) warns the public that the new 1,000 peso polymer banknote is not for sale. According to the BSP, the new 1,000 peso bill is solely for its face value and should not be sold, traded, or bought for any other amount.

The new polymer bill will be in circulation alongside the old 1,000 peso bill. Both of the bills can be used for payment and transactions. The Office of the President and the Monetary Board already approved the issuance of the new polymer bill which started on April 18, 2022.
The 1,000 peso bill features the Philippine Eagle and Sampaguita on the front side; the Tubbataha Reefs Natural Park, the South Sea Pearl, and the T’nalak weave design on the back.

BSP also stated that the new 1000 peso polymer banknote bolsters the BSP’s efforts to address serious public health and safety issues as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, promote environmental sustainability, and combat counterfeiting.
